Cellist Youjin Ko, student at the New England Conservatory, is an active chamber musician, soloist and an advocate for community engagement through music.

Youjin started playing the cello at the age of five in the preparatory division at San Francisco Conservatory of Music and received her bachelor’s degree at UCLA as a recipient of the Max H. Gluck Foundation. She is continuing her studies at the New England Conservatory for her Master’s degree under the tutelage of Yeesun Kim as a Dean’s List honor student and a recipient of the Dean’s Scholarship. She had the privilege to study with other prominent teachers such as Joonsung Jun, Antonio Lysy and Susan Lamb Cook.

Recently, she participated in Orford Musique, Heifetz International Music Institute and also the Beethoven Seminar at New England Conservatory under the guidance of the Borromeo quartet. Youjin has performed in venues such as Jordan Hall, Walt Disney Concert Hall, Zipper Hall in America as well as internationally in Italy, Luxembourg and Canada. She has also been featured in Classical KUSC's SundaysLive series. With a passion for teaching, Youjin is currently a substitute Chamber Music Teaching Fellow in the preparatory program at the New England Conservatory.
